Plan Your Trip
Plan your visit around Kuno's seasons, weather and wildlife experience.
Cooler, comfortable daytime temperatures and generally good visibility make this the most popular window for Central India safaris. Mornings and evenings can be cold, so layers are worth packing.
Hot, dry conditions push wildlife toward water sources, which can mean more concentrated sightings around remaining waterholes — at the cost of higher daytime temperatures on the drive itself.
The safari season runs from 1 October to 30 June. Tiktoli Gate closes for the monsoon from 1 July to 30 September. Outside that window the park is closed to tourism, and the gate reopens when the season starts. Dates can shift with the Forest Department each year, so confirm before you travel.
October–November: gates reopen after the monsoon. The landscape is green and the weather is warm and pleasant.
December–February: cold mornings, clear skies and the most comfortable weather for safaris. This is the busiest window.
March–May: hot and dry. Wildlife concentrates near water, and early drives are best.
June: very hot and dry, with fewer visitors. The season ends on 30 June.
July–September: monsoon closure. The park is closed to tourism.
Like most Central Indian national parks, Kuno typically closes to tourism for part of the monsoon season each year. Exact opening and closing dates vary by year and are set by the Forest Department — always confirm current-year dates with our team before booking travel.
