Sloth Bear

Shaggy, shy and most often found in the rocky forest.

Sloth bears favour Kuno's denser, rockier forest, where boulders and hollow trees give them shelter and termite mounds give them food.

They feed largely on termites, ants and fruit, and are mostly active at dusk and after dark. On a daytime safari a sighting usually comes from a chance encounter on a quiet track, often in the early morning or late evening.

Sloth bears can react defensively if surprised. Your guide will keep the vehicle at a safe distance, so stay seated and quiet.
